Hello, welcome to The Spaces Between. This is a mostly simple RP taking place in a strange, abandoned motel / mall known as Trautkerker Mall which has been taken over by groups of cats searching for shelter. Somehow, the electricity still works in several places, and seems to functionally vary by room- some lights flicker, some shine brightly and steadily, but each remain consistent to their pattern, setting a unique atmosphere. Rooms and hallways appear to connect in confusing ways, with a layout that would seem mismatched to a person- not that a cat would notice the building's inconsistency.
It seems that any cat who enters this place will be unable to leave the proximity- somehow, all the holes in the fence outside just infinitely loop back around and lead right back in, like a strange portal. There's no shortage of food, at least, and the sun still rises in the morning, but whether it reaches through the windows is a gamble, with some rooms being locked into specific times of day or night and others having no or boarded up windows. And, despite the abundance of small prey animals, there's little evidence of them in plain sight- where they come from is a mystery.
Cats who do find themselves at Trautkerker will find the place deserted- or the exterior, at least, and won't be trapped until they've entered the maw and snooped around. Upon leaving, they'll see a different scene to the one they found when entering- a small group of cats, one or two lining the perimeter and a couple others conversing beside or within the overgrown brush, none of which were here when they'd arrived. Those who don't try to leave will eventually run into other cats on the inside, at which point their fate will be sealed and they'll be trapped for good.
Newcomers will often find themselves in one of two groups, StolenClan or the Residents, lead by Starblight and Poppy respectively. These two groups, despite their leaders trying to avoid drama. have conflicting ideals and sometimes squabbles break out- however, with seemingly endless resources and apparently infinite space, there's little pressure on them to compete and so most that don't see eye to eye simply avoid one another.
Some cats that either don't fit in with the two main groups or have a power trip decide to make their own groups. Not all of these last, and it's not known if even Star and Poppy's groups will outlive them- but perhaps it's worth a shot?
